Topic: HTFS-formated partition is not recognized by Windows 2000

I copied a HTFS data partition (used with Win XP) to a new disk with Win 2000.
Now, neither the original partition nor the new one can be read by Windows 2000, i.e. I cannot change to this drive and windows shows this partition as no errors, but with an empty file system (in contrast to NTFS) for the windows partition.
The data still can be read by using Knoppix.

What can I do to resurrect the data in Windows?

another hint: it is a 250 GB disk, which originally was not recognized with this size by Windows installation cd.
Check with testdisk says: the harddisk (138 GB / 127 GiB) seems to small! (247 GB / 230 GB).

meanwhile I installed Windows XP instead of windows 2000 and it has access to this data partition!
Can it be, that the gparted-formated NTFS behaves in a different way on both windows systems?
