Intel X58
Intel I7 920
WD Caviar Black SATA 1TB
ICH10R - AHCI mode
I want to format to 1TB NTFS.

We strive to make the GParted Live CD compatible with as many x86 based systems as possible. As such yours should be supported.
The best way to find out is to try out GParted Live on your system.

I have yesterday,
first with the latest of partedmagic.livecd, crash during format (possible cause on my side coz ram latency was slightly incorrect)
then with latest gpartedlive cd, ram issues fixed by then, crash while formatting 1TB NTFS partition, well, thats a shame, i have found MBRtool ( http://www.diydatarecovery.nl/mbrtool.htm ), that simply allows one to write to the partition table, i think i use that instead

A crash is never good. As such we try to find the reason for the crash.
How much RAM memory do you have installed in your computer system?

ok, program crash not system crash, the last one, before it just froze system (i think that was the case of wrong ram) now it should be fine. i have 3gb
