Topic: Live CD - wrong check sum

Hello,

I have downloaded the file gparted-live-0.4.5-5.iso several times and ran md5sums over it. Got always this check sum: 18cc27527dee9b07d10c1080da1e3500.

The right check sum is
MD5SUMS
7e34ccb9b8e259db95f051aa17630fda  gparted-live-0.4.5-2.iso

Does anybody have an idea what went wrong?

Greetings,

   Michael

Yes, ... but only for gparted-live-0.4.5-2.iso !

Got always this check sum: 18cc27527dee9b07d10c1080da1e3500.

This checksum is correct for gparted-live-0.4.5-5.iso !
See here.

PS: Release Notes with checksums are actually missing on "sourceforge" .

0.4.5-5 is listed as "testing" version. The check values for the late testing versions are the following (from the GParted download page):

0.4.5-2 is the latest named "stable" version (this doesn't  mean that testing are instable versions).

Re: Live CD - wrong check sum

Thanks for Your Answers.

The line "Browse Stable releases of GParted Live here (checksums info)" on page http://gparted.sourceforge.net/download.php
leaded me to a list with the file I have downloaded on top. I had no idea that this was one of the "test versions". That´s why.

Greetings,

   Michael

Re: Live CD - wrong check sum

The new layout of the sourceforge download pages shows the latest files on top.
"Testing" versions work very well in most of the cases.

Re: Live CD - wrong check sum

Hi all,

check sums are okay now.

I have downloaded gparted-live-0.4.5-2.iso and burnt it on a CD. But trying to boot from this does only lead to a black screen. This happened before with gparted-live-0.4.5-5.iso, too.

What should I do now?

Greetings,

   Michael

Re: Live CD - wrong check sum

Sorry, I forgot to tell something about my system:

Notebook Acer TM 800 LCi
Windows XP SP3
internal CD-RW

I have configured the BIOS to boot first from CD.

Burnt the CD with CDBurnerXP. Burning lastet only 1 minute (40x). May be to fast?

Re: Live CD - wrong check sum

Hello Michael,
you burnt an ISO Image, not a Data-CD or a bootable CDROM, didn't you ? You changed bootsequence in BIOS (CDROM  1st) ? You didn't forget to remove an unbootable USB stick or other flash storage device ?

Yes, I´ve choosen burning an ISO Image (as I did several times before, successfully), changed the bootsequence to CDROM 1st and had no USB stick or flash storage device.

The CDROM tries to start running, but the black screen remains. Sometimes Windows begins to boot, but not always.

Re: Live CD - wrong check sum

Is the cdrom drive in good condition?  You can check it with other cds. Sometimes a drive can access the disk catalogue but not the files.

Re: Live CD - wrong check sum

Hello,

now I´ve tried it with an external CD-ROM and it runs. Resizing of partition d: was no problem.

But moving of another (small) partition to the left failed. GParted gave me the following data for this partition:

/dev/hda3 fat 16 ACER_SERVIC 15.69 MB 4.85 MB 11.15 MB hidden, lba

There is a lot of free space left and right of this partition.

I have stored Gparted_details.htm but can´t find it under Windows.

Does anybody have an idea?

Greetings,

   Michael
