Topic: UNetBootIn

Currently, on http://gparted.sourceforge.net/liveusb.php, the method of creating a boot-usb is very complicated and not friendly for the end user. How about advocating use of UNetBootIn? It does all the steps for you and is also F/OSS. All one does is download the .iso, plug in their USB drive, click a few buttons, wait a while, and voila.

this was the first post, which called attention to "UNetBootin".

I totally agree with your opinion and used it several times, since I read the above post.

So both of you tested unetbootin with GParted live 0.4.4.1 iso without any problem ?
I did try that about 6 months ago, and due to the syslinux version was too old from unetbootin, the created GParted live USB flash did not boot.
Today I gave it a try with unetbootin-windows-323.exe on my windows machine, with GParted live 0.4.4-1 iso, the created USB flash drive failed to boot again. When booting, it mentioned "isolinux.bin missing or corrupt". I am sure "isolinux.bin" exists in the dir isolinux in my USB flash drive.
Therefore I am curious why it fails here.
BTW, did you get the exactly the same boot menu and background when you used the method from http://gparted.sourceforge.net/liveusb.php and unetbootin ? I noticed that unetbootin modifed some files and dir arch in the created GParted live USB flashdrive.

Just wanted to throw my two cents in as far as using unetbootin for creating a live USB drive. I have a 128MB flash drive that hasn't seen use in ages until I put the gparted live CD on it. It fits snugly and has saved me several times since my foray into linux started. (I have an EEE and Lifebook, neither of which have CD drives.)

If only GParted were an option in the unetbootin distro list...

I also wanted to agree with these people. Unetbootin works perfectly with Gparted; I love it!

I have updated the web page about how to create GParted live on an USB flash drive. Hower, a note was added for Unetbootin method, because the boot menu it creates does not really the same with "formal" method.
