Topic: Invalid Partition Table

Hi Folks,

I was installing Ubuntu 6.06 and when GParted was resizing my Windows NTFS partition an error ocurred and I'm not being able to boot Windows anymore.

A message is shown: "Missing Operating System"

When I start GParted from the Ubuntu Live cd the following config is shown:
http://aledoicq.vila.bol.com.br/GParted.png

My question is: If i follow the steps shown below, will GParted write only the information in the Partition Table or it will erase all my data from HDA1 too?
http://aledoicq.vila.bol.com.br/Steps.png

Please, take a look in my Partition Table data (hexedit):

If in this case GParted erase my data, what can I do to recover my Partition Table and my Windows installation without erasing my data?

Thanks for the help guys,

Well this is not so easy for end-users ... I think you use an old version of GPArted (you could tell by going in the "help" menu and then have a look at current verion). So what you need to do is probably (not sure since i have not enough information) to edit your ntfs bootsector partition, and then correct the value, and then reboot.
If you wanna do that, the best is that you contact me on RIC GImpnet channel gparted (currently named LarryT). then we could try to resolve your problem together. You will need to boot off your livecd (ubuntu) and i hope you have "hexedit" on it ! So we can make some tests and may be fix one of the problems. .. It is up to you.
I will be free in one hour (give or take few minutes).
