Topic: XP does not start after using GPartEd

Hi all!
I have a dual boot Vista/XP on a raid 0 2xST3500320AS. After using Gparted Vista booted well(after repairing), I used Vista Boot Pro for boot editing but when I tried to enter XP....well, it entered but stopped on the blue screen that reads "Windows XP Profesional" and it stayed like that a long time. Every time I try to enter XP, it happens the same. I tried Recovery console with fixboot. I didn't try fixmbr because I'm afraid of doing anything wrong.
PLS...anyone who could help me...
Thanks

Re: XP does not start after using GPartEd

Hello Epsilonn,
as you might guess, we need a lot more details to give appropriate advice. Be sure to use the latest "GParted Live CD". Look here, how to use "MC_HxEd". We need "drvs.dat", MBR and PBR of the XP volume. Don't try to repair it by trial and error, your recovery chance might get worse than it is now.

Upload all requested files to a file sharing site ( e.g. mediafire.com) and give us the link. GParted's graphical print-out is not sufficient and may be omitted.

Hello Epsilonn,

two images are worth a thousand words ...

You need an USB stick to store the files permanently. Just plug it in on request.

PS: You can download the pictures and have a better resolution.
