Topic: [Solved]New to Gparted: Confused about how to set it up

I'm having problems getting Gparted set up on a Live USB

I'm running on a Windows Vista 32-bit laptop. I don't have Linux on the hard drive. I do have it on a CD (Knoppix).

When I try to boot GParted from my USB drive there is a black screen that says something like "can't find kernel: linux." I can type in a name for a different kernel.

Do I need to create a partition and install Linux (on the hard drive) to run GParted?
Is there anyway to run Linux from a Live CD and run G-rated from my live USB?

If you can boot from the cdrom drive, you can use the GParted livecd. There is nothing to set up then.
