Topic: GParted eternally "scanning all devices"

So, I reformatted a partition and was in the process of copying a smaller partition to the larger, and my daughter happened to cancel the copy process while it was running.
Now when I boot up gparted it never ceases to be "scanning all devices..."

The odd thing is that the drive shows up just fine in Slax, and I can navigate the file structure.

Any suggestions?  I'm just trying to get this puppy ready to do a clean install if vista.

Thanks.

Re: GParted eternally "scanning all devices"

You don't mention the GParted version you use. Often this kind of problem doesn't happen to newer versions.

I don't understand if you made a partition copy with GParted, or you just created a partition with Gparted  and copied files using the operating system. Does Slax read just the file lists, or is it able to use and manipulate the copied files?

"scanning all devices..." with no end, could be a problem in the file system, or even in the hardware, controller, cables, ... (if it appears in more operating systems).
