Topic: C drive size not increasing

I sought Gparted to increase memory on my c: drive from 7gb to 20gb to install software.  I was able to gain unallocated space by using the Parallels image tool.  I then successfully ran Gparted 0.4.3 and it shows my harddrive as being 20gb.

I rebooted XP and am now finding in disk management that the C: drive is listed as still only having the original 7gb but the harddrive is shown to have 20gb.  How do I apply the extra memory to my C: drive?

Re: C drive size not increasing

It seems that the filesystem remains to the old size.
Did xp run the filesystem check just after booting? If no, you can do it yourself from the command line window.
chkdsk C: /f

If this doesn't solve the problem, you can shrink the partition back to the original size and resize it again (it usually works). Please, reboot into xp at least 2 times after each step.

Re: C drive size not increasing

Hi!
I´ve got the same problem. I changed the size of my bootpartition from 10 to 18 gb, with shrinking the d partition to 18gb. Gparted showed the right sizes as the disk management.
I tried chkdsk C:/f but it didnt work.
What have I to do exactly? Is the following correct?
-boot gparted
-change the size back to 10gb
-reboot
-chkdsk
-reboot with gparted
-change the size to 18gb
-reboot
-chkdsk
and hope that it works?:|
Thanks for help

Re: C drive size not increasing

You have to reboot into windows at least twice after each ntfs resizing.
