Topic: French keyboard in Live CD: shift key doesn't work

Hi again,

Using the GParted Live CD (v. 0.3.3-0  dated 2006-12-06 14:29) on my laptop (Dell Inspiron 640m),
configured with France/latin9, I opened a terminal to build up a report.

But there I couldn't type any redirection nor pipe command, since shift and alt-gr
keys didn't work at all!

I could write '/' and numbers using the Fn key for virtual numeric pad,
uppercase letters with capslocks but many characters are unavailable !

Also, I tried to load some other settings, e.g. loadkeys us
but it didn't seem to have any effect (still azerty layout).

In the Leafpad editor, the problem was the same.

What is the problem ? Is there a way to get the missing characters ?

N.B. : yes, my keyboard works normally in other environments wink

Unfortunatly this version of the livecd is no more supported (since the maintainer is gone away with the project) !
But you may try the last version which is avaible there : http://gparted-forum.surf4.info/viewtopic.php?id=313

BTW, *I* know that french keymap works perfectly wink
