Topic: Can't load Gparted.

I'm trying to load gparted from livecd. I get to the place where you choose color depth and resolution (I choose 32 and 1280x1024) and after that it won't load further. I get an error message... something like this - fatal I0 error 104 (connection reset by peer) on X server ":0.0" Umm how do I fix this?

Re: Can't load Gparted.

Try lower numbers.  I ran at 24 color and 800x600.  (I think those were the settings)

Re: Can't load Gparted.

Tried that but after I choose resolution my display shows me some kind of error box with "not optimal mode - preferred mode 1280x1024 60hz" and all screen is messed up, mixture of colours and can't understand anything. I had the same colors messed up problem when trying to load ubuntu live cd. I have lcd monitor and gf6600 if that matters... What could be the problem?

LarryT I will try that but I'm really not sure if different version will help.

Re: Can't load Gparted.

It seems that beta-o.iso image has error. I tried to burn it with Ultraiso and Nero but when I try to boot from cd it just shows boot failed. When I try to burn it with Nero I get this message - the entered block size does not correspond to the image length. The block size may be wrong.
Any help please... =\

Re: Can't load Gparted.

How did you burn the iso ?
Using Nero, you must use any menu saying : "burn  from file", and then chose your iso file.
This is absolutly not a copy.
Is it okay ?

BTW, try the last iso please : http://gparted.sourceforge.net/livecd/g … ta-0.4.iso

Re: Can't load Gparted.

Sorry that about burning was my fault. I didn't check sizes and it turns out it wasn't downloaded completely (although it showed 100%). Anyway I downloaded gparted_livecd-beta-0.4.iso properly now burned it and tried booting. Now it stops at - Detecting Adapter I20 RAID controller...
I waited for a few minutes but it doesn't look like it will load any further.

Re: Can't load Gparted.

Hi, I too am getting this same message at the same point (ie when trying to set video) - just to be on the safe side would you recommend me use the last iso you posted at 0604 on 09-01-07?
Thanks in advance - first time resizing a partition, looks nice and straight forward, but sort of sitting on the edge of my seat with anticipation.

Re: Can't load Gparted.

Thanks for the prompt reply Larry - yeah caught the idea that I was in the wrong place - but this issue seemed right on the money so figured I should just reply here in the first instance.
Righto - well I will download the latest iso from your thread you posted and take it from there - fingers crossed all works well. Oh and thanks for what seems to be a bloody outstanding gem of a product! smile
