Topic: Incompatible CD for testing

I have a DELL Inspiron 4100 desktop.
Wanted to install Linux.
So downloaded gparted-live-0.4.1-2.iso to create a linux partition.
But desktop won't boot with this CD in the tray.
Hit F12 and ran diagnostics. Got the following error.
Error Code 0F00:133D Msg: IDE Device failed: Incompatible CD for testing
What am I doing wrong? Your help is much appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Incompatible CD for testing

You have to select the cd or dvd drive as first boot device. This is done from the BIOS setup. To enter the BIOS setup, we usually have to press F2 on startup. Perhaps your computer uses another key for this.

(Topic moved to the Live Media section).

Yes I did do the F2 (Set up) and had it choose from CDROM drive ahead of Hard Disk. That did not work and that's when I had to resort to F12 and run the diagnostics (option 7). That revealed the error I have reported. I created the iso image using Roxio 'Burn Image' option.

Re: Incompatible CD for testing

It is possible that the cd isn't good. Please, try it to another computer, to be sure that it boots. You must go to a screen that permits you to select from some boot options. I understand that you didn't get that screen.

Check the MD5SUM too, to be sure that the downloaded file is good.

If you can't boot at all from this cd, try to burn another one, using lower burn speed, on a cdrw disc. Burn Image is the correct option.
