Topic: Move boot partition

Hi,

When I installed Ubuntu I did not have much space available, so my boot partition is small.  How can I move the partition and still have it boot up and mount properly?  I have sda1 which is blank and my destination for the copy.  sda3 is my current boot partition.

Thanks for the reply!  Here you go.

I basically want to move the boot to sda1 and then delete sda3 and reuse the space.

Re: Move boot partition

It will be a long work : you have to move each partition.
Have a look at this : http://gparted.sourceforge.net/larry/tips/gfs.htm

Re: Move boot partition

Can't I just copy the partition to sda1?

Re: Move boot partition

Ah! Yes you can, you right. I was thinking about logical drives, but i didnt realised it was onyl primary partitions.
But what about the data in sda1 ?
If you copy, the partition number will change, so you will need to make some upadte in lilo/grub boot loader, i guess.

Don't forget to make a backup before any operation, like *all* users should do !
