Topic: What I'm doing wrong? Not getting GParted GUI

I have tried with three different computer with latest version of Live CD and I can't boot further than to a window where are tabs for "exit", "terminal","Gparted","info","display(or something)". When I click tabs all but Gparted works. How I should proceed to go ahead? Before this I had screens to select options of graphics and keyboards, none of which changed the situation. MD5 sums ok and everything goes ok when booting (or does it , how I can survey errors?). I am complete yellowbeak to Linux world so if somebody could help?!

I think that automatic settings for X were the troublemaker because I managed to "get thru" by configuring it manually. I still have to test with other machines.

Manual configuration with VESA graphics driver 1024x768 works on most systems.

Re: What I'm doing wrong? Not getting GParted GUI

Yes! That was it, after manual configuration I got Gparted working. Though it wasn't really helpful for me as I was trying to find solution to an issue of 250GB hdd locking it's size to 137 GB (after system crash). I tried several partition utilities to get original capacity back, none of them helped including Gparted. I erased disk twice, no help either. But after thorough googling I found from Hitachi's download page an utility called Hitachi Feature Tool (ftool_212 ,ISO-file) and when looking through user guide it seemed that this was able to change hdd capacity information. For what this feature is basing is complete mystery for me (no other hdd maker's utility is capable of doing that as in my knowledge) but user can really change hdd capacity reported to BIOS and OS. After changes made Gparted was also able to see total 250 GB. For users seeking a solution to locked size hdd, ftool can handle other disk than Hitachi, too. Locking can occur when old disk is copied to newer and larger disk that isn't supported by BIOS or situations where MBR is corrupted or disks with DDO installed and then transferred to newer system with full BIOS support. In those circumstances disk may report it's capacity as 137 GB (or smaller) and user can't make any partition over that border. So ftool may be the solution.

Hope somebody finds this helpful,
