Topic: [SOLVED] Hard Drive disaster!! PLEASE Help !!!

I decided to use G Parted to create a small partition just for pictures on my 320GB Hard drive. I load up the GUI and I'm told that the whole hard drive is Unallocated, when it's CLEARLY NOT!

I said to myself, okay this must be some sort of error or something and I'll just fiddle around with it, and get the partition to show up. I checked out all the options in the GUI for a few minutes, and I saw nothing that would help create partitions on the hard drive. So I gave up and decided to forget about the whole hard drive partitioning idea completely. Just before I exited the program to use my computer normally, I checked out the Partition tab, and the only option available on that menu was New, so I decided to click it. It popped up some new window about creating a new partition, which I did NOT want to do. But instead of clicking CANCEL, I clicked ADD(or Create, or something to that affect). It immediately brought a progress bar for about 5 seconds, in which time it probably deleted the whole partition.

Whenever I turn on my computer, I get this message:

DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER

I REALLY REALLY need the information contained on this hard drive. PLEASE PLEASE give me some ideas on how to get the partition back. ANY help is much appreciated! Thank you !

Hey guys, disregard this last post.
I followed advice on other threads, and ran Testdisk.
It rewrote the partition structure of my hard drive, and Windows is fully functional again.
Bless the creator(s) of Testdisk!
Have a great one!

In the case you still encounter problems related to hard drive or partition detection, please give more details about your system and the GParted version you used.

Sure.
I'm running a Pentium D 2.66
3GB DDR Memory
3 Hard drives (One in question is the 320 GB SATA Seagate)
Nvidia 7600GT Graphics card
I ran the latest stable version of GParted, which I now checked to be 0.4.1-2.
On a side thought, is it just me, or is GParted absolutely useless when it comes to doing anything apart from creating a new partition, and resizing? I also have Partition Magic, and I've never come across a single problem when tinkering with my hard drive's needs.

Thank you

GParted is able just to create, destroy, resize, move, check and copy partitions, and the file systems on them, for almost any operating system. It is useless for any other work, like creating office documents, making CAD models, playing youtube video and mp3 files or cook food. I hope however that a coffee making routine would be included in some future version.-

There are obvious errors in the program, most of which I've never encountered in other software in the same line of work.
