Hello,

I'm sory for my poor english: I'm french and i'm surely not study english enough at school.

I have a problem with GParted live Cd. It start corectly, ask me for my keyboard, language, etc... But, when gparted will start, my monitor say to me : the resolution isn't support. It need 1920*1200 pixel.

What file have I to modified to change the resolution ?

There is no need to modify any file. There are alternative boot-up possibilities. Please, give us the livecd version you use.

Using alternate boot-up with VESA graphics option and a resolution of 1024x768 works on most systems.

Further more details (I tried the specified version, to verify the exact steps to follow):

You can go with the default boot option (the first one). After the keyboard and language selection (you can leave default values), you have to select a boot option. I guess the default option [0] leads to the screen problem. So, you can enter 1 and press the Enter key, to run the Forcevideo script.

Then, you can give the graphics driver to use. Default option is "vesa". You leave it as is, and next you select the resolution to use. There are 3 values. Default is 1024x768, and this must work on every modern monitor. In case of problem, you could even select 800x600.

Thanks a lot. I can start Gparted.

But i have another problem. Gparted seems to not support RAID.

Full RAID (no software drivers required) should work with GParted since the physical disks in the RAID are hidden from the operating system and hence from GParted.  A single disk (comprising all the disks in the RAID) is all that should be visible.

Fake Hardware RAID (like some motherboards support, and that does require a software driver) is not currently supported by GParted.  Fake HW RAID can be accessed and is supported in GNU/Linux using the Device Mapper.

Linux Software RAID does not support partitiioning so it would make little sense to use GParted with it.

I didn't know what is fakeraid and you're right to talk me about that. My motherboard have a ICH9R intel raid controler. It's seems to be a fakeraid.

I'm afraid it is fake RAID, because I read in the various specifications for motherboards that use these ICHxx controllers that RAID is valid for mswindows. This means that the work is done (at least partially) by the software driver and the o.s., not by the controller.

Furthermore, a good RAID controller costs much more than the entire motherboard.
