Topic: Mouse not in calibration

Hi all.  Have just downloaded 0.3.9-4 and 0.3.9-5 and they both have this problem when run inside VMware Workstation 6.5.0 build 118166.

In the past I've not had issues using GParted within a VM.  However, with these latest versions the mouse is not in line with where the pointer is.

The pointer needs to be an inch or two above the area where I want to click and sometimes even then it's not exact.  I've tried booting with the different options but nothing has helped.  It's as if I need to calibrate the mouse position.

I did manage to expand a partition using the keyboard but it's so much easier using a mouse.

Any advice would be great. Thanks!

Re: Mouse not in calibration

Can you mention numbers from older GParted versions that worked on this system before? This would help experts to track the problem.

Re: Mouse not in calibration

I'm not too sure because I made the mistake of deleting all the previous versions when downloading the newer ones.  In a past log it mentions version 0.3.8-9 so I'm guessing that one worked OK.  Additional to this I updated VMware Workstation to the lastest build.  It was still version 6.5.0 though.  VMware Workstation seems to not have any issues elsewhere hence why I think it's more related to GParted.  Sorry I can't be much more help but I'm more than happy to try and send back any diagnostic information you may need smile

Re: Mouse not in calibration

Boyderama,
I can not reproduce the problem here.
Host machine: Debian Etch 32 bits
VM: vmware 6.5.0 build 118166
It's working very well here.

BTW, could you take a screenshot ?

Re: Mouse not in calibration

Just taken a screenshot but realised this forum has no option to upload and attach the file?

Instead I'll try and describe the image and fault I have.

At the top we have 'Exit - Screenshot - Terminal etc etc...'

In the centre is the main screen of GParted.  Now let's say I want to click on the button 'Resize/Move'.  In this instance my pointer is actually hovered over the title bar just above the file menu 'GParted'.  It's a good inch higher and to the left than where I need to be BUT the button 'Resize/Move' does 'come into focus/highlight'.

Interestingly enough this issue is completely random.  It might be out of calibration by one or two inches and be either higher or lower, left or right.  It seems to change its mind instantly making it near impossible to predict where you could go in order to click the area you really want.

Not it's possible this is an issue with VMware and perhaps the client VMware installation would solve this?  Like I've said, I don't get this issue with VM's which run Windows but perhaps it's an issue with Linux and VMware?

I'm guessing really.... I don't know how or if it's even possible to install the VMware client into this Live CD?

Thanks!

You can use a photo host service like Photobucket, imageshack.us or other, and post the link here.
