Topic: Monitor In Standby

I'm running gparted to try to resize a 500GB drive.  I set it up to resize a partition, then left the computer for a while.  When I came back, the monitor was blank, and the monitor light was flashing.  The hard drive activity light is still flashing solidly on the front of the PC - it's been running for about an hour.

My question is:  How do I get the monitor out of standby?  I tried moving the mouse, turning the monitor on & off, disconnecting & reconnecting the cable, and hitting keys on the keyboard.  I can't tell which version of gparted I'm running, since the eject button on the DVD drive won't work.

Help!

Re: Monitor In Standby

So you mean when you move your mouse, nothing happens on your screen ?
Maybe you can try to press "ctrl-alt-F2" to switch to another console, and see if console is OK or not.
Then you can press "ctrl-alt-F7" back to X-windows.

Re: Monitor In Standby

I tried all of the "ctrl-alt" X commands, but nothing happened.  I ended up just rebooting & reloading Windows from scratch on the drive, since all of my data was backed up.

I was using gparted 0.3.9-4, so that might've been the problem.  I'll probably use one of the other (non-gparted) partition tools in the future, though.

Re: Monitor In Standby

Next time you can try to use the latest GParted live. 0.4.1 has been released for a few weeks.
