Topic: Help!! I Have Messed Up My Hard Drive/partitions. Cannot Boot Windows

I tried installing Ubuntu 7.10 on a partition of my hard drive (created partitions using partition magic 8).  I stupidly quit the install and now most of my partitions are locked.  I tried unmounting them using the gparted tool in ubuntu live, which locked everything but /dev/sda2(xp recovery partition).  I used the gparted rescue disk to delete one partion of 14G (total size is 250G) which it did.  It is now listed as unallocated.  I can not move this partition to another one.  It now shows as unlocked on ubuntu but am unable to do anything with it.  I would like to undo everything, if possible and be able to boot to win xp.  I  have tried to use the xp recovery disk without success.  When I use it and select recover from recovery partition it just reboots to the same spot. Can I use gparted to restore my partitions and start over, or do I need to get a new hardrive and find an xp disk?
Thanks,
