Topic: Please help!!!!

I was reducing the size of my windows partition when the electrictiy went off and now windows says that the partition has to be formatted which would mean losing 30GB of data! If anyone could help with this it would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Please help!!!!

a little bit more information would certainly help a lot smile
what filesystem? what does gparted say about this disk? were you resizing from the start or the end? etc....

Re: Please help!!!!

the file system is ntfs and i was reducing from the end of the partition. Gparted now says the filesystem is unknown and displays it as  the colour white (if that helps!).

Re: Please help!!!!

what bug do you mean? he sufferend from a poweroutage isn't it?
I think the filesystem is displayed as color black, the white/yellow is only used to indicate the unused/used space in a filesystem.
Maybe testdisk can rescue your data, it's worth a try.

What's the output of fdisk -lu ?
