Topic: How to get graphical environment

Dear All,

I am using Gnu GRUB ver 0.97.
When I run gparted from bootable CD, first I am asked to choose ... something - I choose first from the long list "GParted - LiveCD 0.3 4-11 (auto-confirmation)"
Then lots of text appeares, at the end I get the message that authomatic graphical env. did not work so I am forced to use Forcevideo. Then I choose VESA, 1024x768 resolution and ... I get the below message

VESA (0) No mathing modes
Screen found but none have a suitable configuratin

Fatal server error:
No screen found
XIO: Fatal IO error 104 (connection reset by peer) on X server ":0.0"

I get the same message regardless the video driver I choose - Can you please indicate what I should do to get to the program and be able to change partitions on my drive?

Thanks a lot for your help

Re: How to get graphical environment

Hi!

All I can suggest about this right now is to use a more recent version of the GParted Live CD (0.3.7-7 - which is the current "stable" release - ot the current "testing" release, which is 0.3.8-1). Since not only GParted evolves, but also the Linux environment in these discs, this could maybe help you to get rid of the problem.
If it does not help, I think the model & make of the graphics chip could be of interest for the developers!

I agree that a newer version would solve that boot problem.
