Topic: Graphical Environment

I made a GParted live CD disk, and restarted with it. The Main page came up. I clicked ENTER on the "Auto-configuration" highlighted line. Enter again for keyboard and default language. It did not compete the boot up to the "Graphical Environment" (desktop), rather than that I got a message "Please run Forcevideo script" and you will be asked for video driver, and resolution. Why did it not recognize my Video driver?  Anyway I put in: NVIDIA & resolution 1920x1200.
Nothing happened, so I took out disk and re-booted into windows.
So the question is: How do I get the graphical environment and why did it not recognize my video driver?

My Video driver: NVIDIA GeForce 175.16

Re: Graphical Environment

There can be some issues with the graphics adapter chip, chipset, driver ...
Please, try the option VESA. It usually works on most systems.

Ok. I got this to work by choosing "nv" & resolution 1280x1024

I proceeded to configure what I thought I would want, just for practise, and then I wanted to bail out.
What is the proper procedure to exit & reboot to Windows?

Re: Graphical Environment

You can use "ctrl-alt-backspace" to exit X, then run "sudo reboot" reboot the machine, or run "exit" in the console 1, and it will enter X again. Or "sudo startx" should work.
