Topic: Gparted wont boot on ESX

Have tried boot 0.5.0.3 and 0.4.8.6 on my ESX 3.5 server, during boot up it gives messages [57.05538] NTFS Volume version 3.1 [58.1813838]  NTFS volume version 3.1 and so on.
Then it says Boot Failed, This debian live image failed to boot.

The error message was
Unable to find a medium containing a live file system

Solution to use usb drive or usb stick does not work on ESX guest as I understand.

I want to increase disk size on a virtual machine not the ESX machine itself.

Any suggestions?

Re: Gparted wont boot on ESX

Version 0.4.6.1 did boot so we use that for now, should be good to know for the devolopers why new versions did not boot from 0.4.6.1 and newer.

Anyway I solved the task I was up to, that was to increase disk space on virtual machines on ESX.

Re: Gparted wont boot on ESX

So you meant you used GParted live 0.4.8-6 and 0.5.0-3 "iso" file on your VMWare ESX srever, and it failed to find the filesystem.squashfs?

Re: Gparted wont boot on ESX

I ran into the same problem. 0.5.0-3 wont boot on a ESX server, 0.4.6.1 works fine.

Re: Gparted wont boot on ESX

Same here.
Just tested on an virtual 2003 server - running on ESX 3.5 update 4

I will open a bug regarding this.
