Topic: Resizing Srv 2003

Hello,

I have adjacent unused space next to the boot partition.
I resize it and it work fine.

When I booted into Windows the size of the partition is ok (68 Gb), but in Windows explorer it only recongnises the old size (28 Gb)

How may I fix this ??

Regards.

Re: Resizing Srv 2003

I understand that the partition size changed in the partition table, but the filesystem remained the same.
Usually, this issue is solved by running the command chkdsk /f from the command line (with administrator permissions, of course). The check runs after reboot and before the O.S. boot-up.

It is possible that the partition grew in size, but that the file system did not.

You might try the "Check" partition menu option in GParted to fix such a problem.

Re: Resizing Srv 2003

Some people solved this issue by shrinking the partition back to the original size and resizing it again.
We have to boot into windows at least 2 times, after each step.

I tried shrinking the partition back to the original size.
I now have the following error : "Current NTFS volume size si bigger than the device size" (vol : 73373 Mb, Device : 26121 Mb).

I can't start Win 2003 Server anymore....

Help me please !!

Regards.

Hello FranFrancesco,

Do an analysis with "testdisk" (creating a log ,when asked ) and present it here. "testdisk" is contained in "GParted Live" distro. DO NOT YET "WRITE" something back to your disk ! You need to know, that you probably have an "Intel" style Master Boot Record. The log file "testdisk.log" can be found in the same folder as "testdisk". Mount a drive (USB pendrive or harddisk other than the corrupted one, of course) and copy it with "mc" to it. Or use the built in viewer of "mc" and write it down carefully. Present it here.
