Topic: [SOLVED] gparted not working after hard shutdown

I was working on a dual boot with xp and ubuntu jaunty and did a cancel of operations while resizing a partition. I can get gparted on the live linux os cd's to work but not the gparted disc itself. I have 4.5 and 4.6

This is strange. Are you sure that your GParted discs are good? Did you use them before?
What exactly do you get on screen?
What do you mean by "hard shutdown"? a power break?

Canceling an operation while resizing can damage seriously or even completely the partition (unless it is still in some simulation phase).

I was resizing a partition and shut it down in the middle. I can use the force X failsafe and it works fine, I didn't try this until today. The discs are good they work in the normal mode, I also have a failing hard-drive, a whole lot of variables eh. I have deleted the whole drive wit h the gparted discs several times reformatting in between, and ran a disc erase program and checked the bios to se if I have the latest firmware. You can mark this as basically solved.
