Topic: Checking for bad blocks in FAT32 possible?

Today I checked with Gparted Live 0.3.4.1 (a very old release) a FAT32 partion created by Windows.
I suspected bad blocks, but the testing function couldn't find any problems.
Then I used a Win98SE boot disk, and scandisk with the surface option revealed 57bad blocks.

Now my question is: could a newer release of Gparted Live detect bad blocks, or did I only miss some extended settings?

I have to admit that the normal scandisk without the surface option didn't detect the bad blocks either.

A full and "deep" scan for bad sectors is often destructive for the data.
A simple scandisk wouldn't detect bad sectors, especially in the case they don't belong to any file or metadata area.
0.3.4-1 is quite old (more than 2 years). Even if it could work on older systems, it may contain bugs. There are many newer versions since then, and a lot of work done. Please, use the latest version.
