Topic: Advice please

I am running Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon 7.10 and i want to create a dual-boot system with Mandriva. At the present /dev/sda1 ext3 (Ubuntu) occupies 144.70GB, /dev/sda2 extended 4.34GB and /dev/sda5 Linux-swap 4.34GB.

Could i resize /dev/sda1 from 144.70GB to 72.35GB and then create a new partition and allocate it the remaining 72.35GB?

Would really appreciate any help and advice. Many thanks

Re: Advice please

You can shrink /dev/sda1 and create the new partition(s) you want.
In the case you want to put them into the extended one, you need to expand it too.

It would be easier to work with the Gparted livecd, because you can't shrink the Ubuntu partition mounted.
